Riverdale is a city in southern Weber County, Utah (UT). It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. Once called “Stringtown” due to the early homes being strung along a single road and the Weber River, Riverdale was also known as “Jack Thompson’s Settlement” and “Union” before the name of Riverdale was given to the town. Farmers first settled the area in 1850. The city of Riverdale was incorporated on March 4, 1946.

With a 2020 population of 9,033, it is the 73rd largest city in Utah and the 3320th largest city in the United States. Riverdale, UT is currently growing at a rate of 0.72% annually and its population has increased by 7.20% since the 2010 census, which recorded a population of 8,426. Spanning over 5 miles, Riverdale has a population density of 1,944 people per square mile.
